Two political prisoners accused of trying to foment a riot

HAVANA, January 7 (www.cubanet.org) - Two residents of South Florida currently serving 30-year prison sentences have been accused of trying to foment a riot in the Aguica prison in Matanzas province.

Reports from the prison said Daniel Santovenia Hernandez and Pedro Alvarez Pedroso and other prisoners protested the mistreatment of a prisoner during mealtime in the prison's dining hall.

A prison official said the two men served 15 days of solitary confinement and lost their conjugal privileges for the month of January.

The pair have served 12 years of their sentences for alleged crimes against state security.
