FROM CUBA
Police question Varela activist for third consecutive week

HAVANA, September 25 (www.cubanet.org) - For the third week in a row, Varela project activist Lidiel Martínez was called in for questioning at the Fourth police unit in El Cerro.

Martínez was called in September 16 and questioned by an officer of the political police who gave his name as Erik.

Contrary to previous occasions, this time the questioning was respectful and civil, said Martínez, adding that it's more usual to be intimidated and pressured psychologically by police.

Martínez is the third Varela activist to be questioned at the police unit in recent weeks.
