Young man threatened for refusing to collaborate with Cuban police

HAVANA, September 23 (www.cubanet.org) - Joany Hernández, 25, was threatened by police after he refused to cooperate in a police investigation of a presumed attempt to leave the island illegally.

Police sector chief Rolando Rodríguez threatened to fine Hernández, who makes his living selling pork, and to confiscate the pork he sells.

Hernández is barred from holding other employment because he is considered "unreliable" politically to the Cuban government system.

Hernández has been arrested before under suspicion of attempting to illegally leave the island.
