Pizza-parlor
attendant fired
HAVANA, September 12 (www.cubanet.org) - The
manager of the La Raya pizza store, in Camagüey,
fired Mayda Tamayo after she complained about
being fined a few days before.
Tamayo had been fined 55 pesos by a quality-control
inspector for selling underweight, poor quality
pizzas.
She said she had been working at the store for
over 10 years without ever being reprimanded,
adding that the cheese provided for making pizza
by the government itself, is of very poor quality.
Tamayo, who makes a little more than 110 pesos
a month, said she complained to the union, but
was told that the union respects administrative
measures.
