Lobster
catch is low
HAVANA, Sept. 12 (www.cubanet.org) - More than
half way through the lobster season, fishermen
say the catch is already US$6 million less than
anticipated.
Lobsters are the backbone of Cuba's fishing industry
and are exported to Japan, China and countries
of the European Union.
More than 1,000 fishermen took to the sea on
June 1 when then five-month lobster season opened.
The lessened catch is attributed to ocean temperatures
and winds.
