No money to pay the pipers in Cuba

HAVANA, October 10 (www.cubanet.org) - Administrators at the Ranchón Las Vegas restaurant told a trio of musicians who had been playing at the facility that there was no money to pay them their wages for September.

The restaurant, a unit of the government's Commerce and Gastronomy enterprise in Bayamo, had signed a contract with the Sindo Garay Provincial Center for Music, which in turn booked the three musicians to play lunch and dinner for 300 pesos (less than 12 dollars) a month.

The musicians, Roel Mesa, Joel Centeno, and Javier Martínez, said they had put in claims with their union, but to no avail.
