One dead, two injured in building collapse in Cuba

HAVANA, December 16 (www.cubanet.org) - The partial collapse of a building left one three-year-old girl dead and her eight-year-old brother and father in serious condition at a local hospital.

The three were sitting in a stairway December 10 when part of the roof fell on them. The building, at Rodríguez Street, between Calzada de Diez de Octubre and Fomento Street, was built around 100 years ago and had been declared "in dangerous condition" in 1989.

Others in the vicinity are in similar condition. One neighbor said: "Right here, next door, there is another one that will collapse any time now."
