Month-long series of prayers undertaken in Cuba for jailed independent journalist

CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Dec. 2 (www.cubanet.org) - Dissidents and independent journalists in two provinces have undertaken a month-long series on prayers for Normando Hernandez Gonzalez, director of the College of Independent Journalists of Camaguey, who is serving a 25-year prison sentence, as well as other imprisoned dissidents.

Vertientes Yarai Reyes, Hernandez Gonzalez's wife, revealed that prayers at 6 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. started November 11 and will continue until December 10 in Camaguey and Ciego de Avila provinces.

She said that her husband is currently serving 21 days in a punishment cell.

Members of the Christian Liberation Movement interrogated by Cuban police

HAVANA, Dec. 2 (www.cubanet.org) - Two members of the Christian Liberation Movement, which has been active in promoting the Varela Project, were interrogated by an officer of the National Police last month.

Enrique Gutierrez and Ramon Padron said that their efforts on behalf of a referendum were permitted under the constitution.
