Cyber-survey shows apathy about political topics

HAVANA, May 29 (Manuel David Orrio, CPI / www.cubanet.org) - An ongoing survey on the CubaSí website of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) shows a lack of interest by participants for political topics, apparently contradicting the official government line.

CubaSí is a website in which the ETECSA Internet provider promotes its capabilities and offerings. It features information on Cuba, free e-mail accounts, and even horoscopes.

In a constantly updated section called The Now Survey, the interests of users, most of whom are Cubans who access the site from work, are tallied.

The survey customarily shows that approximately 49 percent of the site's users favor the horoscope, followed by music, with 38 percent of users.

Politics and current affairs attract only 5 percent of users, and Che Guevara commands the attention of 3 percent.
