Hold up in Havana dollar store

HAVANA, May 28 (Fara Armenteros, UPECI / www.cubanet.org) - One or more persons held up a small dollar store at the corner of Concha and Luyanó Streets, in Havana, knifing and beating the attendant and taking all the day’s receipts.

According to a neighbor, a man approached the establishment, which sells food, candy, alcoholic beverages, and cosmetics, and asked for a beer. When the attendant turned around to serve him, the assailant beat him around the head and then knifed him in the back. It wasn’t immediately known whether the man had any accomplices.

People here have no way of knowing how rare or frequent crimes such as this one may be, since the Cuban government press rarely publishes news of incidents like this.
