Police chief bans playing dominoes

CAMAGÜEY, May 8 (Normando Hernández, CPIC / www.cubanet.org) - The sector chief of police in Progreso, Las Tunas province, has banned townspeople from playing dominoes in their porches.

"The ban is due to the fact that the official thinks dominoes attract the neighbors’ attention and stimulate vagrancy," said Orestes Giniebra, a resident and local activist.

Giniebra said Norge Díaz, or "Pasito," as the chief is more commonly known, told Roberto Fabelo that he couldn’t go on playing dominoes and talking with his friends outside his house.

The town has little in the way of recreation; a movie theater that operates in the evenings, and a place called El Ranchón that opens only on weekends for food and drinks.
