Exile organizations declare May 13th as "International support for
the Cuban opposition day"
A group of Cuban exile organizations have agreed to declare May 13th, "International
support for the Cuban opposition day." The date coincides with the 71st
anniversary of Pedro Luis Boitel's birthday, who was savagely assassinated by
the Castro tyranny.
Persecuted and exiled in their own land, deprived of their most elemental
rights, fired from their jobs, subject to a cruel and systematic hate campaign,
defamation towards them and their families, the thousands of men and women that
for years have confronted with exceptional civic activism that tyranny, deserve
the admiration and support of all the democratic and civilized forces on the
planet. the Cuban opposition has written one of the most beautiful and noble
pages of our history.
Their struggle is not only against the tyranny of Fidel Castro, but against
all forms of oppression anywhere on earth. In Cuba a battle is being waged for
the values of the civilized world. The defence of human rights does not know
boundaries of any particular nation, these rights are universal.
We want that wherever a free heart beats there be celebrated the "International
support for the Cuban opposition day."
We invite all our compatriots, inside and outside the island, those
sympathetic to our cause, national and international human rights organizations,
and democratic governments, to join us in this initiative, celebrating diverse
activities in accordance with the particular circumstances and characteristics
of each place. The idea is that
this May 13th, the world turn its eyes and ears towards Cuba, its tragedy,
its dissidents, its people, in contrast with those who have turned their backs.
The great hope for the persecuted and marginalized is to feel they are not
alone, not forgotten.

Discontent against the government on the rise in Guantanamo
(GUANTANAMO/CUBA/May 7th/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)-
This past April 29, two strangers broke the glass of the windows of a tax
collecting currency store in the city of Guantanamo, also known as "La
Sucursal", while on other parts of the city appeared posters with slogans
against the Castro regime, marking a desperate discontent of the people with
the economic crisis.
To this day, the Department of the State Security (DSE), the Technical
Department of Investigations (DTI) and the National Revolutionary Police has not
been able to find the authors of these actions.
Reporting from the city of Guantanamo, Ferdinando
Castro de Lardiller, National Delegate of the Democratic Party November 30 "Frank
País". Given to the Information Bridge Cuba Miami on May 2002. |
