Detentions among the opposition expected as Castro might visit Guantánamo
(GUANTÁNAMO/CUBA/ June 2nd/ Puenteinfocubamiami.org) According
to a source who wishes to remain anonymous, the Department of State Security has
already a plan for the detention of leaders of the opposition and independent
journalists in Guantanamo in the event of a possible visit from Castro to this
city for the 25th anniversary of the "Combinado Poligráfico Juan
Marinello".
The detention period would last between 5 to 10 days, depending on how
dangerous the repressive systems deems the peaceful oppositionist to be.
It seems that the authorities fear that dissidents in Guantánamo will
take to the streets with anti-government signs and slogans.
From Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller,
National Delegate of the Democratic Party November 30 "Frank País",
and COOCE Coordinator. Given to The Information Bridge Cuba Miami on May 31,

Dissident's home is invaded and his property destroyed in Guantanamo
http://www.puenteinfocubamiami.org/guantanamo.html
(GUANTÁNAMO/CUBA/ May 27th/Puenteinfocubamiami.org) - A member of the
peaceful opposition, Omar Hartemant de la Torre, was subject of attacks from the
Rapid Response Brigade at the service of the State Security, when on March 29th
they invaded his home screaming at him accusations of being a
counterrevolutionary and an antisocial.
According to witnesses, neighbors thought first that the attacks were coming
from a gang of delinquents who were trying to assault the dissident. After some
neighbors demanded to know their identity one of them identified himself as a
member of the Interior Ministry.
The victim was beaten and the door to his home smashed, as also was a
radio/recorder that, according to the aggressors, was used to listen to Radio
Martí. A fan and some furniture were also destroyed
Hartemant de la Torre, filed a complaint before the head of the Interior
Ministry in this city, but was not given proper due course because of his
dissident status.
