Havana township without water for four days

HAVANA, July 20 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba- Verdad / www.cubanet.org) - The approximately 20,000 residents of Managua have been making do without running water for four days, and there is no word from authorities as to when they may expect the service back.

Word in the streets is that waterworks personnel are replacing the motor in the pump serving the town’s water supply, but there has been no official confirmation.

Residents say authorities have not acknowledged the problem by sending in tanker trucks to supply water to the population.

Managua is in outlying Arroyo Naranjo municipality, just north of the border between the city of Havana proper and Havana province.
