HAVANA, July 20 (Alicia Zamora Labrada, Lux InfoPress) - Reynaldo Pérez
recently refused to sign a constitutional petition to make Socialism permanent
in Cuba that the government says over 8 million Cubans willingly signed.
As a result, he says, he has lost his job as a driver in the municipal
funeral home in Güines, a town outside of Havana. The facilitys
administrator, Belkis Alfonso, fired him under pressure from the political
police.
Pérez had also given up membership in the Communist Party and in the
Cuban Revolution Combatants Association, an honor that accrued from his
participation in the war in Angola in the 70s.
