HAVANA, February 3 (Alicia Zamora Labrada, Lux Info Press / www.cubanet.org)
- For several weeks, the messenger in the North Polyclinic, in Palma Soriano,
near Santiago de Cuba, assiduously reported repeated instances of pilfering of
medical supplies for private gain to the facility's administrator. Last week,
the administrator fired him.
Walter Leite Vidal had been faithfully reporting that the alcohol used to
clean wounds was routinely diluted and contaminated, and that medicines and
medical supplies were appropriated by unscrupulous employees to be later sold in
the black market.
The polyclinic's administrator, Ramón Perera, finally declared Leite "untrustworthy"
and thus, not apt to work as a messenger at the facility.
