The Hudson Exploited Theater Company presents Dismiss All the Poets, by
Adrian Rodriguez; directed by Arian Blanco, at the New York International Fringe
Festival, Theater for a New City (Cino Theater) beginning Saturday, August 10th.
"What did you think? That you were untouchable? That because you are a
writer, an intellectual, you could attack the Revolution and get away with it!"
The Hudson Exploited Theater Company (Arian Blanco, Managing Director) will
present Dismiss All the Poets by Adrian Rodriguez and directed by Arian Blanco
as part of the New York International Fringe Festival beginning Saturday, August
10th at 7:30 at the Theater for a New City (Cino Theater).
In a time when art was used to promote the "cause," Dismiss All
the Poets, is a fictional play based on the rise and fall of Cuban poet Heberto
Padilla. Illustrating the dangers of producing art in a totalitarian society, it
follows the literary existence of a poet while exploring his disenchantment with
the Cuban Revolution.
Adrian Rodriguez's (Playwright) his first play, Cuban Operator Please. was
first produced at the 2000 NY International Fringe Festival and was subsequently
published in the anthology Plays & Playwrights 2001. La Fabrica, a companion
piece to Cuban Operator Please. was featured at the Fringe in 2001, and was
followed by the production of his trilogy The Union City Plays, comprised of
both aforementioned works and the prologue Floating Home at the Park Theatre in
Union City in fall of 2001. Current works in progress include: Teaching
Sisyphus, and Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. He is a founding member
and president of the Havana on the Hudson Project and a member of the HExTC.
Arian Blanco (Director) directed the world premieres of Cuban Operator
Please..., La Fabrica, and The Union City Plays. Other NYC credits as a director
include Of Mice And Men (Pantheon Theater) and, as a producer, Tracers by John
DiFusco (Pantheon Theater) and Rubber by Tom Sleigh (Midtown Internation Theatre
Festival). Mr. Blanco currently works for the New York State Council on the
Arts. He co-founded the Hudson Exploited Theater Company (HExTC) in the summer
of 1990 and serves as its Managing Director.
The cast includes: Liche Ariza (Sunset Boy; film: A Beautiful Mind), Jose
Antonio (La Fábrica, The Revolving Door), John C. Cunningham (Tracers,
TV: "Beautiful"), Emilio Delgado (Luis of "Sesame Street";
film Kate and Leopold, Follow That Bird), Angelica Osborne (MTV 's "World
Famous Club"), and Maria Rivera (Passion Play).

Hudson Exploited Theater Company (Arian Blanco, Managing Director) is a
Union City, NJ based theater company that produces on both sides of the Hudson.
They are in residency at the historic Park Theatre in Union City and perform at
various venues in NYC. HExTC is committed to expanding the notion of what is "American"
and to presenting the works of artists that reflect the variety of experiences,
backgrounds, races, and cultures that make up the American landscape. HExTC
seeks to produce new plays as well as inspired productions of modern classics.
