CAMAGUEY, July 30 (Normando Hernández González, CPIC /
www.cubanet.org) - The president of the Popular Power [local government] in
Colombia municipality, Las Tunas province, detained an evangelical pastor July
27 for preaching on a street corner.
The pastor, Rudi Ávalos Carbonel, of the evangelical Christian
congregation Manantiales de Amor, set up around nine oclock in the evening
at the corner of Cándido González and 13 Streets as another pastor
stopped cars to distribute a Biblical message and ask their occupants to accept
Christ as their Saviour.
One of the cars he stopped was that of Enclio Cala, the president of the
local Popular Power. By that time, there were reportedly about a hundred people
at the site. Cala got off his car, dispersed the crowd and asked the pastor to
accompany him to the police station.
