(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, December 13, 2001) - Political prisoner and
prisoner of conscience, Néstor Rodríguez Lobaina, continues being
the victim of Castro's repressive and incarcerating regime.
Last Wednesday morning, this prisoner had an appointment at the Máxilo
Facial Department of the Provincial General Hospital "Agustino Neto but
prison authorities at'"Combinado de Guantánamo " refused to
take him to the doctor's appointment.
Rodríguez Lobaina who is serving his third sentence for political
reasons, is presently carrying out an act of civil disobedience against prison
authorities, and began a hunger strike last Sunday (December 9th), in protest of
the violations which the lackeys and henchmen of the militaristic and
totalitarian system of the dictator perpetrates against him and Human Rights.
This is not the first time that prison authorities enforce this type of
abusive measures against this prisoner. He has been repeatedly denied medical
attention in the past due to injuries received in many of the beatings given
under orders from prison authorities. Denial of medical attention happens
frequently to political prisoners in Cuba.
