www.cubanet.org) - With capitalist marketing savvy, government-owned and
-operated Cubapack is offering Cubans a package deal of all the necessary food
items to celebrate the year-end festivities for "only 65 dollars."

Which is precisely the problem, complain residents. The average Cuban salary
is 247 pesos a month, and the exchange rate stands at 26 pesos to the dollar.
"To take advantage of this offer, I would have to spend seven months’
salary," said one man who declined to give his name.
The Cubapack offer includes 19 items, all traditional to Cuban Christmas and
New Year’s celebrations, such as Spanish cider, nougats, almonds, and
hazelnuts.
The company’s slogan is "The power to make you feel good."
