HAVANA, December 6 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad /
(www.cubanet.org) - Officials from the U. S. Interests Section in Havana
expressed appreciation for Cuban expressions of solidarity with terror victims
in New York and Washington in a letter to dissident Isabel del Pino.
The letter, signed by section chief Vicky Huddleston, thanked del Pino for a
"book of signatures and photographs of Cubans expressing their condolences
and condemnation of the terrorist acts of September 11."
Del Pino for just under two weeks opened the doors to her home so that
people could sign the book, and then forwarded it to the Interests Section. Del
Pino is the president of the Humanitarian Association Followers of Christ the
King. The organization is often persecuted by the government as an unauthorized
group. It has as its guiding principle, said del Pino, "a vocation to serve
our fellowmen."
