HAVANA, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Cuba and Djibouti have decided to establish
diplomatic relations, Cuba's official newspaper Granma said on Saturday.
It said the decision was announced at the United Nations in New York on
Friday in a joint statement signed by the respective ambassadors to the United
Nations of the communist-ruled Caribbean island and the coastal Horn of Africa
state.
Since the collapse of the former communist Soviet bloc after 1989 threatened
Cuba with political isolation, the Cuban government has staged a diplomatic
offensive to widen its contacts and ties with both developed and developing
countries.
