Imprisoned Cuban independent journalist hospitalized

NUEVA GERONA, Cuba, March 10 (www.cubanet.org) - Independent journalist Julio César Gálvez Rodríguez has been transferred to the prison ward of the Celestino Hernández Robau Hospital in Santa Clara suffering from high blood pressure and kidney stones.

The report on Gálvez's condition was made by Tomás González Coya, president of the Cuban Nationalist Civic Movement.

Gálvez had been serving a 15-year sentence at the Pendiente Prison in Santa Clara province.

At the time of his sentencing last April, he was the correspondent of the Carta de Cuba magazine in published in Puerto Rico.
