Cuban independent journalist moved from isolation cell after three months

HAVANA, March 2 (www.cubanet.org) - Independent journalist Normando Hérnández González was moved from an isolation cell after more than three months, his wife reports.

Yarí Reyes Marín said her husband, 33, was suffering from an inflamed intestine and gastritis. She said he was now able to sleep on a mattress loaned him by a prison guard. Previously he was obliged to sleep on the bare floor in prison 5 ½ in Pinar del Río province.

Hérnandez was sentenced to a 25-year sentence last April following a government crackdown on dissidents. He was placed in the isolation cell for alleged disobedience.
