Country Gets Cuba

Kampala - Cuba has offered five professors
to teach technical programmes at the 2-year
old Kyambogo University over the next two
years, reports Geresom Musamali.
Cuba has also offered three more professors
to teach at Mbarara University of Science
and Technology (MUST). At least 10 Cuban
professors have already been supporting
teaching programmes at MUST since it was
started about 10 years ago.
Tom Butime, state minister for foreign
affairs, said during the 45th anniversary
of the Cuban Revolution on Wednesday that
under a protocol signed between Cuba and
Uganda in October last year.
Butime said there was wide co-operation
between Cuba and Uganda in the fields of
education, agriculture and medicine, among
others. He said Cuba was interested in importing
black beans from Uganda.
"Very soon we shall have five other
Cuban professors to teach at Kyambogo. I
was in Havana last year to discuss with
Cuba further co-operation," he said.
