HAVANA, October 28 (Reinaldo Cosano Alen/www.cubanet.org) The
Assembly to Promote Civil Society, which consists of more than 300
organizations, has issued a call for all dissident groups in Cuba to participate
in a campaign to promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The campaign will start November 10 and end December 10, the annual Human
Rights Day selected by the United Nations in 1948.
"The central idea of the campaign is that we dissident brothers will
not be limited to a study of this fundamental document, but to the
contrary we will try to incorporate this type of activity with the common
citizens of our society," said a joint statement signed by René Gómez
Manzano, Manuel Fernández Rocha and Galman Rodríguez Acosta of the
Assembly's Committee of Historic Recompilation.
The statement suggested small workshops to avoid action against the
dissidents by the government.
