CAMAGÜEY, February 13 (Normando Hernández, CPIC /
www.cubanet.org) - A physician returning to Cuba after serving abroad had all
his belongings stolen before he made it home.
Dr. David Arias Díaz, 31, estimated his loss at 30,000 pesos. "The
hard work of two years turned to salt and water," he said. "I was
robbed at Céspedes crossing, in Camagüey province. This sort of
thing happens frequently there."
Dr. Arias had been working in Honduras for two years under the Cuban
government's internationalist brigades program.
At the time of the incident, police promised him they would shortly have
positive results as to the culprits and the stolen goods. "However,"
said Arias, "the days have gone by and nothing has been found. They only
say they have information."
