HAVANA, Dec. 10 (Jose Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org)
The local government of Cerro, a municipality in Havana, has banned entry to its
offices of anyone wearing clothes with symbols of the United States or words in
English.
A sign on the main entrance reads: "Entrance is prohibited to anyone
wearing shorts or T-shirts with imperialistic allegories or images."
Asked about the prohibition, a municipal employee said the measure was taken
because people had been coming in wearing T-shirts with the U.S. flag and that
one entered with a T-shirt bearing the image of Che Guevera and "Im a
fool" printed underneath. She did not say if the people were Cubans or
tourists.
As for shorts, the employee said, "Shorts are for the beach, not a
government office."
