HAVANA, Dec. 4 (Anna Rosa Veitia, UPECI / www.cubanet.org) Two masked
men jumped aboard a truck November 27 on the outskirts of Manzanillo and threw
the cargo to two colleagues, according to Julia Cecilia Gomez, delegate for the
Federation of Rural Latin American Women in Granma province.
Among the merchandise stolen were five cases of rum, 50 pounds of ham hocks,
30 pounds of smoked ham, 30 pound of smoked beef and 100 cartons of cigarettes.
The truck belonged to the Ministry of Sugar and was being used by the
Municipal Gastronomy Company.
The previous day, men with their faces covered by nylon stockings scared off
employees of La Oca restaurant and stole 30 cases of beer, six cases of rum, 15
cartons of cigarettes, 10 sacks of rice, 40 pounds of frozen chicken and 5
gallons of vegetables oil.
Five blocks from the restaurant, men broke into the Antare clothing factory
and stole 190 pairs of pants and 60 meters of cloth, among other items.
