HERRADURA, August 13 (Lázaro Raúl González, CPI /
www.cubanet.org) - The black market price of oil in Pinar del Río
province is up since the end of July, from 80 to 120 pesos per 20 liter can. The
more-often used six-liter can has gone from 25 to between 35 and 40 pesos.
Most people here attribute the increase to the disruption in oil shipments
from Venezuela and the consequent reduction in allocations to the government
entities from which the oil is usually diverted.
Sixty to 70 percent of households use oil for cooking, according to recent
estimates.
