HAVANA, June 14 (Carmelo Díaz Fernández, APSIC) - Residents of
Cortés, in western Pinar del Río province, have no medical service
since the doctor in charge was transferred out in March and not replaced.
One resident, Deysi C. Crespo, said the people with the most urgent need for
medical care are about 20 older patients, five of whom are diabetics. "The
situation is complicated by the crisis in transportation, because there is no
way to take sick people to the nearest town," she said.
