HAVANA, June 11 (Juan Carlos Linares, Cuba Voz) - The operating room in the
general hospital serving the Diez de Octubre district of Havana that closed at
the beginning of April for repairs was not reopened in early June as originally
planned.
One worker at the hospital attributed the delay to the detection of a staph
infection in the operating room. Another said the problem is that administrators
decided to replace two elevators while the operating room was closed and the new
elevators are bigger than the shaft in which they are supposed to fit.
The hospital is considered one of the most important in the country due to
the number of patients that are seen there.
