Possible application of severe measures to oppositionists with ties to the Cuban Exile Community

(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, December 16 the 2001)–The Department of the State Security (DSE), repressive organ of the Castro totalitarian regime, will begin applying extreme and severe measures, to those oppositionist whom through organizations or people in the Exile Community, denounce to the international community, the constant violations that the dictatorship perpetrates against the people in the island.

A source that wishes to remain anonymous explained that in response to the sentences given to the five Cuban spies by a Court in Miami, any oppositionist making denouncement to organizations or individuals in Exile, will be considered as spying for the United States and they will be applied similar measures to those that were applied to the above mentioned Cuban spies.

As an oppositionist, I remind the Cuban ruler that that he owes the victory of his stagnated revolution to the media support in Cuba, back when Cuba had freedom of statement and freedom of the press, as well as to the media support and the financial help of the Cubans residing in the United States, especially in Miami; And after he rose to power he betrayed his people by implanting a perpetual dictatorship and a terrorism of state that maintains the Cuban citizen sunk in panic.

We are not spies. We want freedom for the people of Cuba and not the Castro regime. We want a democratic state where human rights are respected, without Castro.

Reported, Ferdinando Castro de Lardiller, Delegate in Guantánamo, of the Democratic Party 30 of November "Frank País". For The Information Bridge Cuba Miami. Given on December 16th, 2001.

Payment denied to farmers

(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, December 13, 2001) – Farmers in the area of Felipinas, in the Municipality of Niceto Pérez in the Province of Guantánamo, have not received payment for products they sold last year to the agricultural firm by the name of Casimba.

These farmers, who in spite of their lack of resources for cultivation of the land, last year sold to the aforementioned farming firm, products such as coffee and pineapple which were commercialized by said entity during the same year, and they have not received payment for their merchandise.

The system of exploitation and the capitalism of State of the Cuban government, not only exploits farmers, but it does not given any explanation as to why they have not paid them.

It also exploits all workers in the lower class of society whom are given salaries which are insufficient to eat, while the high class which is made up of military men of the Armed Revolutionary Forces and Interior Ministry, receive extremely high salaries in order to maintain the monopoly on power and count on extensive farm land and cattle which are tended to by cheap labor; the Armed Revelutionary Forces recruits from the obligatory military service and the Interior Ministry uses prisoners which go without payment for up to four months.

Sadly, we ask ourselves if there is an instance in which the government of Cuba is not a violator, it violates the health, education, and the economy of it's people at all levels.

Over 500 prisoners suffering from "alimentary dystrophia" in Cuban prison "Combinado de Guantánamo".

Julius Margolin (1900-1971) Several times he nearly died of "alimentary dystrophia" in the northern concentration camps of the GULAG (see article)

(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, December 4, 2001) - The existence of over 100 prisoners with "alimentary dystrophia" in the provincial prison of "Combinado de Guatánamo" was made public on October 4th of this year. Today, only 2 months after, the number of prisoners with this disease has increased to over 500 in this prison alone.

Ulcers, dizziness and a deterioration of memory and mental abilities are symptoms of this disease; people can only be saved if fed properly.

In this prison, the penal population's food ration consists of one cup of rice, poorly cooked and a cup of soup. Lunch is served at 10:00 a.m. and dinner at 3:00 p.m.

According to a source, political prisoner Yulian Hernández, and members of his family have repeatedly complained about this situation.

It is important to note that every prisoner is removed from the rationing card of his household; theoretically, he is supposed to receive his fixed food ration in jail, which is not being done.

Meanwhile, prison authorities of the penitentiary, headed by Lieutenant Jorge Chediak Pérez, Warden, overseen by Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Chief of the Interior Order (whom was demoted in April of 1999 for the crime of theft and was promoted again one year later), are the ones responsible for the food by-products destined for the prisoners in said prison.
