Police break up journalist's romance

CIEGO DE AVILA, December 3 (Lexter Téllez Castro, APLA / www.cubanet.org) - Independent Cuban journalist Carlos Brizuela Yera accuses local police in Céspedes, Camagüey province, of hounding him in retaliation for his independent activity, to the extent of breaking up his romance with Yoslaida Herrera Aguiar.

"Recently Yoslaida told me to quit journalism, because she would be fired from her job if she continued seeing me," said Brizuela.

According to Brizuela, State Security officers have been influencing Herrera for some time with subtle threats.

"State Security interferes in my private life," said Brizuela. "Now, they have managed to make my fiancée break up with me. That's a low blow, but I'm going to continue reporting."
