PINAR DEL RIO, April 23 (Víctor Rolando Arroyo, UPECI) - Three
municipal secretaries of the Communist Party in Pinar del Río province
were demoted following strong criticism by General Raúl Castro of their
performance.
The three, first secretaries of the Sandino, San Luis, and Pinar del Río
municipalities, were "liberated from their duties" at the request of
provincial Party authorities. None lived in the municipality in which he served,
contrary to the stated principles of the Party.
Last week, General Raúl Castro had criticized provincial leaders for
lack of motivation and for failing to recruit new members to the Party.
