Policeman beats woman for complaining about power blackout

HAVANA, April 5 (Moraima Pires, Grupo Decoro) - A policeman beat Odalys González Alonso in the street in front of her home when she complained about a power blackout, causing her minor injuries.

Officer Jorge Bolaños also filed an accusation against González of yelling "Down with Fidel Castro" after the incident the night of March 22.

González said all she yelled was for a relative to disconnect the refrigerator so that the power surge that usually accompanies the restoration of service would not damage it.
