HAVANA, April 4 (Ohalys Víctore, Cuba Voz) - The administrator of the
"Piti Fajardo" hospital in Las Tunas province had the engine of one of
the two ambulances assigned to the facility installed in his car, leaving one
ambulance to serve a population of approximately 60,000 in the city and the
surrounding towns.
The administrator, Mario Pozo Saavedra, is a Communist Party member and
said, according to a source, "I will return the ambulances engine
whenever I damn well please." The reference in the original Spanish was to
the mans testicles.
Several hospital employees who have asked the ambulances driver, Juan
Marú, when it will be repaired have only received a shrug for an answer.
Marú is afraid of possible repercussions.
Saavedra is known for punishing hospital employees; the ambulance drivers
have often been the victims of his excesses.
