SANTIAGO DE CUBA, March 29 (Marilyn Lahera, APLO) - Alfredo Toledo, the
manager of a vegetable cannery, told Jorge Sanabria Vega, 42, he would be fired
from his job as a driver for the company if he continues his association with
dissident organizations.
Toledo received a visit from Juan Carlos Tabares, an officer of the
Department of State Security, just before he threatened Sanabria.
Pressuring managers to fire dissidents has turned into a common practice for
State Security officials; it is rare for dissidents to be able to stay
employed.
