Young Man Cannot Join His Wife In Mexico

HAVANA, April 25 (Marvin Hernández, Cuba Press) - Cuban migratory authorities will not allow a 25 year old Cuban man to join his wife in México.

Leonel Medina Triana married a Mexican citizen in July, 1999 and has been trying to join his wife in Mexico. He has had authorization to do so from the Mexican authorities since February of this year, but Cuban authorities will not issue the required exit visa.

Medina has asked for a meeting with the Interior Ministry official in charge in his home province of Sancti Spiritus, but has not had an answer. He had been taken back to Cuba in 1998 from the Bahamas, where he spent three months after an attempt to leave the country. He thinks that is the reason why the government will not let him leave the country now.
