Recreation Center In Eastern Cuba Converted To Cafeteria For Tourists

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, April 20 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) - The last remaining recreation center in Sagua de Tánamo, Holguín province, in eastern Cuba, has been converted to a cafeteria selling exclusively in dollars. The cafeteria, called "La de prisa" is operated by the Isla Azul hotel chain and occupies what used to be the patio of the Cultural Center in the city.

Even though it is open round the clock, it sees very few customers; there are few tourists in this end of the island and the impoverished locals don't have the dollars to patronize the establishment.

In any event, local residents complain that now the recreation center is essentially off-limits to them.
