Cuban Students Mobilized For Demonstration Outside Czech Embassy

HAVANA, April 18 (Oswaldo de Céspedes, CPI) - University students were told that their presence at the protest rally today in front of the Czech embassy was compulsory.

Some students were told to be at assembly points near the embassy at dawn; others were told to report to their schools for later transport to the demonstrations.

In addition, many work sites suspended operations so that the employees could attend the march. Students from middle and vocational schools were also drafted.

Organizers expect to have on hand more than 300,000 persons to protest their displeasure with the Czech Republic's sponsorship of a measure censuring Cuba for its human rights record at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva.
