HAVANA, April 2 (Mery Miranda, Cuba Press) - Jorge Enrique Ribes Peña, 42, was sentenced to seven months in jail for not allowing his son to participate in political activities, such as joining the Young Pioneers youth organization, at school.
The principal of the "Julio Sanguily" school, Maritza Varona, along with teachers Miriam Cedeño and Guadalupe Gutiérrez, accused Ribes Peña of "actions contrary to the normal development of a minor," in January. His son is a fourth grade student at the
school.
Ribes Peña is already serving his sentence at the "Cerámica Roja" provincial prison. In 1994, he served one year and seven months in jail for disrespect to president Fidel Castro.
