Iran, Cuba discuss expansion of ties in
all fields
Tehran, May 5, IRNA.
The Iranian Head of Iran-Cuba Parliamentary
Friendship Group Avaz Heidarpour in a meeting
with the speaker of Cuba's National Parliament
Ricardo Alarcon in Havana on Saturday said
that he and his entourage aim to discuss
expansion of bilateral ties in all fields.
Turning to the political and social commonalties
between the two countries and their anti-colonial
stance, Heidarpour expressed satisfaction
with the growing trend of Iran-Cuba ties,
particularly over the recent years.
He referred to parliamentary friendship
groups as a guarantee for mutual relations
between the two governments and nations.
Lauding the campaigns of the Cuban nation
against imperialism and the country's political
stance in international bodies, he declared
Majlis readiness to assist and cooperate
with the Cuban government and nation.
Criticizing the US for imposing economic
sanctions against some countries, including
Iran and Cuba, he said that despite all
sanctions, Iran has managed to conquer the
peaks of scientific honor one after another.
He added that access to nuclear technology
for peaceful purposes is Iran's most important
achievement.
For his part, Alarcon expressed his satisfaction
with the visit of Iranian Parliamentary
Friendship Group to Havana and hoped that
cooperation between the two countries will
increase in all fields.
"The US enmity with Iran and Cuba
is not incidental. The Iranian and Cuban
revolutions are considered by the US officials
as an earthquake that has managed to shake
the foundations of imperialism," added
the Cuban speaker.
