Ex-military officer accused of illicity activities

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, January 24(Rigoberto González Morales, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - Commerce inspectors and members of the national police force raided the home of a former army lieutenant, seized goods he had for sale and accused him of illicit trade.

Elio Montero Pastor said that he had a license to work as a self-employed person but that it was withdrawn two years ago by the tax office.

He was fined 500 pesos and goods worth an estimated 8,000 were seized. They included hardware and parts for stoves.
