Government supporters prevent baseball game
by pacifists
SANTA CLARA, Cuba, January 19 (Alain Ramón
Gómez Ramos, Cubanacán Press
/ www.cubanet.org) - Officials from the
municipality of Santo Domingo last week
prevented a local team of pacifists, Coalición
Juvenil Martiana, from playing a visiting
Santa Clara team on the grounds government
officials and the local Communist Party
had to give their approval first.
When one of the pacifist players protested
the cancellation, Nilo Castro, sports director
in Santo Domingo, became angry and threatened
to hit the player.
