Dissidents say Communist Party members tried to intimidate them

HAVANA, September 1 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Mario Echevarria Driggs, committee president of the Assembly to Promote Civil Society in Cuba, says two members of the Communist Party came to his home last weekend and told him meetings could not be held there.

"They told me that they would not allow me to hold any meetings for 'worms,'" he said. "I replied that I didn't receive 'worms' in my home, only decent people."

He identified the pair as Julio Alberto and Sonia.

He added: "Now I'm being watched not only by State Security but by the Communist Party."
