Shoemakers idle in Ranchuelo

RANCHUELO, October 10 (Félix Reyes Gutiérrez, Cubanacán Press / www.cubane.org) - Shoemakers in Ranchuelo have been idle for two weeks, as managers seek better quarters for them to work in.

The "Bienvenido Bermúdez" factory, the only one in the municipality, has seen production interrupted several times before, typically for six to seven months out of the year, for lack of raw materials.

The government usually takes advantage of factory down time to educate workers. Workers at the "Bienvenido Bermúdez" had been studying for two weeks before management announced the decision to seek other quarters, because the factory didn't have the lasts they needed to produce the new models they were to manufacture.
