HAVANA, Cuba, May 5 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Orlando Zapata Tamayo, currently in prison, last week was elected president of the dissident Alternative Republican Movement at a meeting held by members in the capital.

They also selected Juan Ramón Rivero Despaigne to carry out Zapata's duties while he remains imprisoned, but police arrested him April 29and held him overnight in jail.
