Anti-government graffiti in Placetas

PLACETAS, Cuba, January 11 (María Elena Alpízar Ariosa, Grupo Decoro / www.cubanet.org) - Someone painted five anti-government slogans on the façade of the Placetas hospital during the night last week; two of them read Down with Fidel.

By morning, police and paramilitary forces began scraping the wall to eradicate the signs. On one, they just wrote a government slogan over it.

Local residents said they were surprised by the boldness of the graffiti artist, since they said the area is well-lit and there were heavy police patrols during those days.
