The On-Off Cuba Trip Finally

Nairobi - After a week of waiting and anxiety,
the women's national volleyball team finally
jets out today for a two-week training stint
in Cuba.
Assistant coach David Lug'aho said the
visa problems had been settled and the team
will leave at 11.30 pm aboard a Swiss Air
plane. The team will make a stopover in
Paris.
"It is now confirmed and the team
will jet out today to Cuba for a two-week
training stint," he said. He said the
players were upbeat after learning of the
confirmation for they have been waiting
since last Friday.
"We are very happy that the trip has
been confirmed now. We just hope that things
will go as per the schedule," said
booster Judy Serenge. She said they need
the trip badly as it will prepare them for
the Olympics.
Similar sentiments were echoed by upcoming
Janet Wanja and Nancy Nyongesa.
Kenya will open their campaign against
the hosts Greeceon August 14. Kenya is in
Pool "A" together with Greece,
Korea, Japan, Brazil and Italy. Pool B comprises
China, Dominica Republic, Cuba, Germany,
Russia and the United States.
